Welcome to my newsletter

I’ve been sending out news for years, just not under the guise of an email list. If thisisyour first connection from me, then thank you for joining. There is lots going on in the coming months, with the release of my documentary Embracing Voices about Jazz luminary Jane Bunnett, the North Italy tour coming up in just a few weeks, then a trip to Holland to finalize details for the Sky and Bulbs tour and then just in time to escape winter, I’ll be leading a group to Rajasthan.

EMBRACING VOICES
For the past four years I’ve been working on a documentary about Canadian jazz musician Jane Bunnett and I’m happy to say I’m very close to being finished. It’s been an epic journey, both for myself and Jane, which has resulted is a 72 minute film that reveals the power of music to heal the soul and unite people of diverse backgrounds. Having worked almost single handedly since the beginning, I’m at a point where I need to reach out for help in order to complete it. If you are interested in knowing more about Embracing Voices, and would like to know how you can be instrumental in bringing this documentary to life.. more here

What makes travel exciting for me is when you make connection to the local community. Elisa has a real knack for establishing those connections and finding hidden stories that otherwise I wouldn't find on my own. That's when photo opportunities occur.
Ed Tobin, Sicily 2004, Sicily 2009, South India 2010

Elisa has actually lived in the countries we’ve visited, so she knows what it takes to make the inevitable bumps in the road as smooth as possible. She quietly pre-screens not only the accommodations but also each of the photographic opportunities, obtaining permissions where necessary and making sure the locals know what to expect from us photographers. All in all, a well organized and most professionally run photo tour.

TORONTO CAMERA CLUB

Faces and Places – Exploring the world through a lens.
I’ve been invited to share my work at the Toronto Camera Club as part of their lecture series this fall. I’ll be showing photographs from my travels, amongst places like India, Cuba and Italy and will talk about the ways in which I use my camera while I travel, to connect to the world around me....more info.

AWOL GALLERY Better late than never! I had a few pieces hanging in the AWOL Square Foot show at Twist gallery on Queen West in Toronto in August. Mine sold nicely, even amongst a 1000 other pieces, and I had fun experimenting with form, using paper, resin and board.
